Integrative massage combines techniques such as swedish, deep tissue, and trigger point into a therapeutic and relaxing massage. Prior to your massage, i will speak one on one to find out what your goals are. Whether you are looking for targeted work or to just take a step back from your day and relax, this massage will be 100% customized to your wants and needs.
Prenatal Massage is a style of bodywork designed specifically for pregnant women. Pregnancy is a time when a woman's body endures tremendous stress due to dramatic physical and emotional changes. Using various techniques specially developed for the expecting mother, Pregnancy Massage helps release the pain and discomfort experienced throughout pregnancy. The benefits are profound, including emotional support, the relief of joint pain due to extra weight and postural imbalance, and improved breathing and relaxation.
Integrative massage with a cupping session includes the benefits of a swedish massage, deep tissue massage, and a 15 minute cupping session. Prior to starting the session, I will sit down and explain what the technique is and go over any conditions that may discourage the use of cupping.
Cupping is the term applied to a technique that uses small plastic or silicone cups as suction devices that are placed on the skin to disperse and break up stagnation and congestion by drawing congested blood to the surface. The suction in the cups causes the skin and superficial muscle layer to be lightly drawn into the cup. Cupping is much like the inverse of massage – rather than applying pressure to muscles, it uses gentle pressure to pull them upward. For most clients, this is a particularly relaxing and relieving sensation. Once suctioned, the cups are generally left in place for about ten minutes while the patient relaxes.
The side effects of cupping are fairly mild. Marking should be expected, but skin should return to looking normal within 10 days.
You should also avoid cupping if you have:
Gua sha loosely translates to scraping, rubbing or pushing. During a Gua Sha session, I will use a smooth-edged tool to gently scrape areas of your body where there is inflammation or stagnant areas to help improve circulation and promote healing. Gua sha is good for musculoskeletal problems, especially major ones like tightness in the shoulders, arms, legs and back. Because the gua sha session is limited to 15 minutes additional time, clients typically pick their problem area and we work there. Facial gua sha sessions are excluded from this service.
Prior to your session, I will sit and explain qua sha again and also show you the tools that I use. We will also go over any contraindications that may be an issue. These can include skin conditions, medications, and other medical conditions. Gua sha also may leave marking in the area we worked. It is not bruising as there is no trauma to the area. This marking may last hours to even up to a week.
